February 18, 2002 (Ames, Iowa) Proliant Biologicals announced today that the company's Bovine Albumin had been granted a TSE Certificate of Suitability from the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines. This document certifies that Proliant BSA meets the risk criteria for minimizing transmittal of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). The decision by the Council of Europe's EDQM is granted based on product sourcing, traceability and isolation from contamination during manufacturing. The TSE Certificate of Suitability is required for bovine-derived raw material used in the manufacturing of biological products sold in Europe.
